WW1 Centenary Hinckley
A DRUMHEAD service will be held in Hinckley Cemetery on Ashby Road this Sunday, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.
Organised by the Royal British Legion and the Borough Council, the service will take place at 2pm on Sunday 3 August.
The short service will be conducted by representatives from local churches and a guard of honour will be formed by the Gurkhas from Gamecock Barracks at Bramcote, alongside First World War re-enactors.
Standard bearers and cadets from across the central Midlands including Royal Air Force Air Cadets from 121 and 198 Squadrons will also be present.
WW1 Service of Remembrance – St Nicolas Church
On Sunday 3rd August, Royal Air Force Air Cadets from121 (Nuneaton) Squadron will be attending a WW1 Service of Remembrance at the St Nicolas Parish Church, Vicarage Street, Nuneaton (CV11 4AZ) at 18:00hrs.
As part of the service which is being held to Commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the start of the WW1 the Squadron’s Drummers will be performing and constructing a Drum Head Altar from which the service will be conducted. The Squadron’s Banner will be on parade and Squadron memorabilia will be on display.
Former 121 Squadron cadet Revd Simon Betteridge who is now the Squadrons padre will be taking part in the service.
WW1 Nuneaton Book of Remembrance
On Monday 4thAugust 2014, which marks the 100th Anniversary of the start of WW1 in 1914, Royal Air Force Air Cadets from 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron will be attending a short ceremony within the Town Centre Ropewalk Shopping Centre Nuneaton (CV11 5TZ ) at 10:00hrs to mark the public unveiling of the newly compiled book of remembrance which lists those residents of Nuneaton who fell during WW1.
WW1 Service of Remembrance – United Reformed Church
On Monday 4thAugust 2014, which marks the 100th Anniversary of the start of WW1 in 1914, Royal Air Force Air Cadets from 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron will be attending a WW1 Service of Remembrance at the United Reformed Church, Chapel Street , Nuneaton (CV11 5QH) at 18:00hrs. Drummers from the Squadron Band and Banner will be on parade.
