Caring cadets take to the streets for the ‘Wings Appeal'

Caring cadets collected hundreds of pounds to support war heroes and their families when they hit the streets of Nuneaton.

Royal Air Force veterans and the Air Cadets of 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron were out in the centre of Nuneaton urging shoppers to dig deep into their pockets and make a donation.

The collection was part of the `Battle of Britain Wings Appeal' by the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) which provides help and support for former members of the RAF.

In total the group of young people and RAFA members managed to raise £301.45 for the annual appeal and would now like to send out their thanks to everyone who so generously donated.

With 80,000 members and 500 branches in the UK, Europe and beyond the RAFA needs all the help it can get and the local young people were determined to do their bit.

Flight Lieutenant Paul Hincks, Officer Commanding 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron, said: "We are delighted to have been able to help the Coventry Branch Royal Air Forces Association with this year’s Wings Appeal and demonstrate the commitment of the Squadron as a whole to our work with ex service organisations within our community."

Dave Palmer, chairman of the RAFA Coventry Branch, said: "I would like to convey my thanks to all the cadets that turned out for this year’s RAFA Wings Appeal Collection. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Nuneaton and Bedworth for their generosity and support for the RAFA."

Anyone who missed the opportunity to donate to the RAFA’s ` Wings Appeal' may still do so by visiting https://www.rafa.org.uk/get-involved/donate-now
