Members of 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron were out in force in the centre of Nuneaton and Bedworth on Saturday 22nd September urging shoppers to dig deep into their pockets and make a donation.

The collection was part of the `Battle of Britain Wings Appeal' by the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) which provides help and support for former members of the RAF.

In total the group of young people helped to raise a huge £610.79 for the annual appeal and would now like to send out their thanks to everyone who so generously donated.

Cadet FS Connor Little and Cpl Deanna Young accept a generous donation from a supportive member of the public.

With 80,000 members and 500 branches in the UK , Europe and beyond the RAFA needs all the help it can get and the local young people were determined to do their bit.

Flight Lieutenant Paul Hincks, Officer Commanding 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron, said: "We are delighted to have been able to help the Coventry Branch Royal Air Forces Association with this years Wings Appeal and demonstrate the commitment of the Squadron as a whole to our work with ex service organisations within our community."

Last year the Nuneaton cadets won the prestigious RAFA Coventry Branch Wings Appeal Trophy, which is awarded to the Coventry area Air Cadet Unit that raises the most money during the street collections.

The cadets are hoping that, thanks to the generosity of the people of Nuneaton and Bedworth they will be in with a good chance of retaining the award for a sixth consecutive year.

Dave Palmer, chairman of the RAFA Coventry Branch, said: "I would like to convey my thanks to all the cadets that turned out for this years RAFA Wings Appeal Collection. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Nuneaton and Bedworth for their generosity and support for the RAFA."

Three of the street entertainers that help to make Nuneaton’s market place one of the best of the areas shopping centers join in with all the fun as they wore their RAFA Wings with pride whilst they helped boost the collection by playing some classic wartime favorites.
