The Cadets and Staff of 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron were delighted to be able to have the opportunity to welcome their new Wing Commanding Officer, Wg Cdr Stuart Iles when he paid his first visit to the Squadron only four days after taking command of the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing.
Thirteen of the Squadrons cadets were lucky enough to be present on the deck of HMS Bristol to witness the formal handover of command of the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing from Wg Cdr Pravin Ladwa to Wg Cdr Stuart Iles and his visit to the 121 Squadron headquarters was an excellent opportunity for the rest of the cadets and staff to meet their new Wing Commander.
During his visit Wg Cdr Iles had the opportunity to see a lesson in survival techniques which was being given by guest speakers veteran Gurkha S/Sgt Vinod Shrestha and PO Paddy Garner (Royal Navy) from the Nuneaton based Veterans Contact Point with whom the Squadron has formed a mutually beneficial working relationship.
Wg Cdr Iles was then invited to make presentations to cadets during the Squadrons final parade after which he addressed the whole Squadron, saying how much he had enjoyed his first visit to 121 Squadron as Wing Commander.
Flt Lt Paul Hincks Officer Commanding 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron said, “We were delighted to have been only the second Squadron within the wing to have the pleasure of having a visit from Wg Cdr Iles and we are all looking forward to working with him as the Wing moves forward under his command. On behalf of the Squadron as a whole, may I once again extend our congratulations to Stuart on his appointment as Officer Commanding Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing”.
