An outstanding day of competition success

121 (Nuneaton) Squadron had what can only be described as an outstandingly successful day at the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing Field Day.

OC 121 Squadron is delighted to announce that, thanks to the outstanding efforts of all our cadets and staff that have worked so hard in the run up to the Wing Training Day and their performances on the day, the Squadron actually managed to come second in the overall Wing Training Day competition.

The Squadron turned out an impressive team of cadets for this action packed day of competition at the Nesscliffe Training Centre in Shropshire, which culminated in the squadron bringing home a total of three trophies.

The Squadron’s cadets clinched 1st place in Media Communications, Photography and the Percussion section of the band competition and boy, you wouldn’t believe how close we were in so many of the other competitions to scooping even more silverware.

Flight Lieutenant Paul Hincks, Officer Commanding 121 Squadron, said, “We now have the final results from the Wing Training Day and can confirm the fact that we finally have written confirmation that it wasn’t a dream and we did really come second out of twenty six units in the overall competition with a total score of 97 points. The winning Squadron got 123 points and our other nearest rival in third place got 88 points”.

“As many of you will already know we came home with three trophies but, boy you wouldn’t believe how close we were in so many of the competitions to scooping even more silverware”.

“Once again a massive demonstration of the fact that all the hard work that everyone on the Squadron has put into the preparation for wing Field Day has paid off and that when we all pull together and do our best we are a team the punches way above our weight within the wing”.

“Every single member of 121 Squadron, no matter how big or small the contribution towards this success, should be justly proud of themselves and their Squadron”.
