Fresh from their success in the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing swimming championships two cadets from 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron were back in record-breaking action again on Sunday 1st November when they represented their Wing at the Central & East Regional Swimming Championships at RAF Cranwell..
Cadet Gemma Porter set an outstanding pace for the junior girls when she took the Gold in the breaststroke, setting a new Regional record breaking time of 38.44. The previous record for the race being 38.60 set in 2007
Gemma also swam for the Wing in the junior girls Medley Relay, propelling her team into third place, thus adding a Bronze to her medal tally.
Cadet Joe Peffers also put on a terrific performance in his race, taking Gold in The junior boys breaststroke.
Gemma and Joe will now go on to represent the Central & East Region at the forthcoming Corps Swimming Championship on November 14th."
Flt Lt Ian Crewe Officer Commanding 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron said, “We are absolutely delighted with Gemma and Joe's swimming successes. Hopefully they can pull out all the stops at the Corps Championships and come back with some Corps Gold's to add to their collection.
