The Band of 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron Air Training Corps had the honour of leading the local St George's Day parade on Sunday 22 April. The Air Cadet band lead hundreds of scouts through the centre of Bedworth in a patriotic celebration of St George's Day.
Crowds of onlookers and proud parents lined the route and watched as more than 500 beavers, cubs and scouts led by the band and the Cross of St George marched through the town for the district scout annual parade.
The scouts gathered inside the Kings Community Church , in Bulkington Road , for a celebration of St George the patron saint of scouting. Following the service the Air Cadet band lead the St George's Day parade for the march past with the salute being taken by the borough's mayor-elect, Councillor Bill Sheppard and Bill Olner the MP for Nuneaton & Bedworth.
Collin King scout parade organiser said, “This is a great occasion for all of the districts scouts, everyone here gets to renew their promises as part of the district. This years parade has even more significance as it marks the centenary of scouting. It's been so good to see so many on parade and we are so please that the Air Cadet Band was able to join us this year. The presence of a proper military band just adds that special edge to this sort of event and it's been an excellent opportunity to foster cross organisational relationships.”
