Air Cadets did something funny for Red Nose Day

Nuneaton based Air Cadets, Supermarket staff and customers have all backed this year's Red Nose Day appeal which saw the kind-hearted Air Cadets attempt to Walk and Cycle their way from Nuneaton to RAF Cosford without leaving the Sainsbury's store.

Employees at the Nuneaton branch of Sainsbury's have been backing this year's Red Nose appeal with a range of fundraising activities and had asked the Royal Air Force Air Cadets from 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron to come in to the store on Saturday 14th March to help with the collection.

So in a bid to come up with a fun way of raising money within the busy Supermarket, the cadets thought they needed to do something that had never been done before and that's when the idea of Cycling and Walking 44 miles, the distance from the Nuneaton Sainsbury's store to RAF Cosford where they do most of their flying came to mind.

The biggest Red Noses

Come Saturday morning the Air Cadets were all raring to go and thanks to the outstanding generosity of the Nuneaton Sainsbury's customers, the Air Cadets Cycled and Walked their way to an outstanding collection of £402.98 in aide of the Red Nose Day appeal.

Although money is still coming in, activities staged at the Nuneaton branch of Sainsbury's are estimated to have amassed a massive £3000.00 for Red Nose Day 2015.

Kath Moreton, spokesperson for the Nuneaton Sainsbury's store said, “We are so glad that the Nuneaton Air Cadets have given up their time to come into the store and help to collect for Red Nose Day. I think it's so good for people to see the youngsters both having fun and doing their bit to help to boost our collection. They did an excellent job and I would take this opportunity to thank them all”

Flight Lieutenant Paul Hincks, officer commanding 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron added, “Nuneaton based Air Cadets and members of our civilian committee answered the call to do something funny for Money in aid of Red Nose Day”.

“Determined to do their bit to help raise money for those less fortunate than themselves, our cadets and staff donned their Red Nose Day gear and helped to raise £402.98 and that's an effort they can be justly proud of, simply their way of showing that they care.”
