The Air Cadet Band from 121 (Nueneaton) Squadron unexpectedly found themselves in the spotlight when they were called on to step in to support the RAF Presentation Team who found themselves short of one RAF Band
The Royal Air Force Presentation Team was staging a three day event at the Jaguar Cars Visitor Centre in Birmingham . Unfortunately due to other commitments the RAF Band couldn't be present for the second presentation. So on Wednesday 13 th May the young Air Cadet musicians were called in to support their parent service during the high profile public presentation which was attended by a wide range of local people including civic dignitaries, business leaders and senior officers from the emergency services.
After their performance the members of the band had the opportunity to meet the Wing Commander Simon Firth, Flight Lieutenant Charlie Pushman, Warrant Officer Roy Woodruff and SAC James Davey of the Presentation Team who thanked them for stepping in and supporting the event.
The three day Presentation Team event was also supported by Air Cadets from 165 (Castle Bromwich) Squadron, 495 (Sutton Coldfield) Squadron and 487 (Erdington) Detached Flight.
Flight Lieutenant Ian Crewe Officer Commanding 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron said, “We were delighted to be able to support the Presentation Team at this event. Our band normally spends most of its time leading parades which is something quite different to providing background music for an event of this nature. Thankfully some of the new music we've recently introduced to our repertoire for the 2009 season came in handy and the cadets put on an excellent performance.”
