Collecting for the Poppy Appeal

Royal Air Force Air Cadets and staff from 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron have been out in the streets of their home town helping with the RBL Poppy Appeal collection.

Over the past three weeks, the cadets joined other Poppy Appeal collectors as the general public made donations towards the Nuneaton & Stockingford Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

The Nuneaton & Stockingford Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal organiser, Archie Smith said, “Last year the generosity of Nuneaton 's citizens saw a record collection. We hope to equal if not beat last year’s record this time”.

He added, “Conflicts end but the caring doesn't and I would take this opportunity to thank the cadets for their assistance in trying to help us achieve our goal”.

Flt Lt Paul Hincks Officer Commanding 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron said, “The cadets always welcome the opportunity to help the RBL with the Poppy Appeal. It’s important that the younger generation understand the real meaning of the poppy collection and why Remembrance Day is so significant”.

“I would take this opportunity to thank all the Cadets and Staff for giving up their time to help with the collection and also thank the people on Nuneaton for their generously. We are so glad to have been able to do our bit to help the Royal British Legion, to safeguard the welfare, interests and memory of those who have and are still serving in the Armed Forces”.

The Royal British Legion was created to preserve the spirit of fellowship and service to others formed by all ranks and to maintain, in a strong, stimulating, united comradeship, all those who have served in H.M. Forces, or Auxiliary Forces or who are still serving so that neither their efforts nor their interests shall be forgotten; and that their welfare and that of the dependants of those who died in the service of their country may be safeguarded; and that just and equitable treatment shall be secured to them in respect of the difficulties caused in their lives as a result of their service.

121 Squadron ATC is affiliated to the Nuneaton & Stockingford branch of the Royal British Legion.
