Nuneatonís most respected soldierís final parade

It is with sadness that members of the Nuneaton based Air Cadets have heard of the passing of one of the Squadron’s most admired friends, Korean War veteran Jesse Owen.

Officer Commanding 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron Flt Lt Paul Hincks said, “Jesse, a former Royal Marine Commando and long standing parade marshal at so many ex-service events in Nuneaton and Bedworth often worked closely with members of the Cadet Forces. He was always at the forefront of supporting the involvement of the younger generation having a full and active part in the town’s ex-service events. I have known Jesse for many years and he played a key role in helping the Nuneaton Air Cadets to organise the Battle of Britain Day service that has now become one of the town’s annual events. Those of us that had the honour of knowing Jesse Owen will always remember him as one of our most respected ex-servicemen and a friend and I am sure that he will be with us in our thoughts whenever we attend future parades.
