Two extremely lucky cadets from 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron recently had what has now become a rare opportunity to fly in the Vigilant.
Massive thanks to Flt Lt James Martin who, at extremely short notice gave up his day off from work to take two of our cadets gliding at the central gliding school RAF Syerston.
The Photographs in this article are provided to remind cadets what a glider looks like and to prove that there is now at least one Vigilant within the fleet that’s flying cadets.
All joking aside, since the grounding of the Vigilant fleet back in 2014 the opportunities for Air Cadet gliding have been extremely limited, however the MOD has now released a statement regarding the planned re-launch of Air Cadet flying opportunities. You can read the Government Statement online.
Taking full advantage of their trip to the central gliding school RAF Syerston, the cadets also took the opportunity to have a go in the flight simulators. All said, a brilliant day out and thanks, once again to Flt Lt James Martin for giving up his day off.
