Times gone by came alive once again to herald in the season of turkey and tinsel as members of the 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron manned one of the charity stalls at the Atherstone Dickens Night .
Members of the Civilian Committee and Squadron staff manned one of the large number of stalls in the Atherstone Market Square as an estimated 10,000 revellers piled into the streets to enjoy the massive North Warwickshire event.
The Squadrons Civilian Committee ran a Tombola and a Name the Bear competition whilst members of staff were on hand to tell potential recruits and their parents all about life in the Air Cadets.
All the stalls and street entertainment of the Dickens Night set a perfect prelude to the towns Christmas lights switch on which was conducted by the Mayor of Atherstone. The evening's entertainment ended with a grand musical firework finale which lit up the night sky to herald the start of the Christmas season.
John Newbury, Chairman of the Squadrons Civilian Committee said, “This is the second year that we've taken part in the Dickens Night event and we are delighted to say that we've done even better that we did last year. It's been a very successful evening from both the fundraising and public relations perspectives and I would like to thank all the committee members for all their help and support and also thank everyone who donated items for the stall.”
