On 18th of November Royal Air Force Air Cadets from 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron visited Bagington Airport near Coventry. The cadets visited the Air Traffic Control Tower and the Airport Fire section, before being given a tour of the Midland Air Museum which included being shown the cockpits of two of the V-Bombers; a Victor and a Vulcan.
The cadets then went on to visit Avro Shackleton WR963 owned by the Shackleton Aviation Group.
The Shackleton tour not only included the aircraft’s interior but allowed the cadets to join the maintenance personnel “out on the wing” of the historic aircraft. The easiest way down from on top of the aircraft wing is to slide of the back which the cadets indulged in with great enthusiasm.
The Squadron would like to thank the staff at Bagington Airport, Midland Air Museum, and the Shackleton Aviation Group for their hospitality and for providing the cadets with an interesting and varied day, and Cpl Mandzuik for his effort in organising the event.
