Royal Air Force Air Cadets from Nuneaton joined thousands of other people for the massive Bruntingthorpe “On Your Marks” Charity Day, bringing fast cars and aircraft to a thrilling new level of excitement.
Air Cadets from 121 (Nuneaton) and 29F (Rugby) Squadron's spent the day helping the organisers with directing people into the event and conducting walk around tours of an RAF Nimrod maritime patrol aircraft.
Thankfully it wasn’t all work and no play, the cadets had plenty of free time to lap up the action of the fast cars and the thundreds roar of cold war jet aircraft as they sped down the runway.
An unexpected bonus cam when members of the Midlands Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service gave the cadets a fire safety demonstration which culminated in a Blue Light run along the track.
Flight Lieutenant Paul Hincks, Officer Commanding 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron said, “The ‘On Your Marks’ charity event was an absolutely brilliant day for cadets and staff alike. Thanks to the fantastic sports car clubs the cadets got to sit in all sorts of dream sports cars the likes of which Jeremy Clarkson would sell his own grandmother to get a ride in. The cadets also had time to organise walk around tours of the Nimrod aircraft and visit all manner of other thrilling displays including stunt drivers and motorcycle displays”.
“This was the forth time that our Squadron had been to an ‘On Your Marks’ event, we knew it was going to be a good day but we couldn’t have imagined just how good it was going to be”.
