Following the recent Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing Band Competition, the young percussionists from the Nuneaton based Air Cadets are all set to represent the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing in the Central & East Regional band competition.
Having won the percussion section element of the recent Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing band competition the drummers from 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron will now need to start preparing themselves for the Regional competition at RAF Halton on the 7th September.
Officer Commanding 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron Flt Lt Paul Hincks said, "I am delighted to see our drummers putting us through to the regional competition again this year. What's even more pleasing is that it's the cadets themselves who worked together to arrange the routine and train for the winning performance which put us through to the regional championships. I hope they can repeat their success when they compete at regional level in September”
He added, “I must also take this opportunity to commend Sgt Carrington who was most definitely thrust into the limelight as our solo bugler. His rendition of The Last Post on the flugelhorn gained him second place in the solo bugle section of the competition which has earned him the chance to go on to represent the Wing in the Regional competition, he will however be required to use a valveless instrument instead of his flugelhorn when he competes at Regional level ”.
