After the launch ceremony in the Ropewalk, the focus of the towns Armed Forces Day events moved on to the Nuneaton Old Edwardians RFC in Weddington Road where the Veterans Contact Point held an Armed Forces Family Fun Day.
Flt Lt Paul Hincks Officer Commanding 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron said, “I was thrilled with the performance of our drummers in Ropewalk, they did their Squadron and Nuneaton as a whole proud to be part of the Armed Forces Community. I was also pleased to see so many local people come and support Armed Forces Day, with all of Nuneaton’s generations coming together to show our respect to the Armed Forces.”
He added,” It’s so important that Nuneaton celebrates Armed Forces Day, there’s a strong contingent of ex-servicemen and women in the town and this event was a way to say thanks to all of them for what they have done and show our support for those who are still serving in the forces today”.
